Filumena rehearsal diary – week one

Last week the Filumena cast joined us to start rehearsals on this delightful tale that will transport the audience to 1940s Naples. As Assistant Director to Michael Attenborough, Jane Fallowfield will be watching their every move with an eagle eye and sharing each weeks developments with us. Telling Tales rehearsal diary

As Assistant Director on Telling Tales Jasmin Anderson has seen the rehearsal process from a whole new perspective. A member of our Young Friend of the Almeida scheme Jasmin has performed as part of a company before, but this is the first time she has been so thoroughly involved in all the details of putting a production on stage.

Telling Tales – a new play for young audiences

Between 8 – 10 February the Almeida will be venturing into new territory and staging a play for ages 7 – 11. Telling Tales takes the themes from our main house production, The House of Bernarda Alba, and makes them relevant to a younger audience. Below is a piece written by Jo Buffery who has been writing the Telling Tales resource pack for schools. Through conversations with Oladipo Agboluaje she finds out how Telling Tales responds to Bernarda Alba, how to write for a young audience and how he discovered his passion.

Reasons To Be Pretty Talkback

Reasons To Be Pretty is the final part of Neil LaBute’s trilogy of plays that explore our perception of beauty and image interplaying the relationships between men and women. It’s been said that it’s the more humane play out of the trilogy. We have a Talkback during each run of a production at the Almeida where the audience can discuss the production with the cast.
